Sean Goretskie:
My name is Sean Goretskie, and I have worked in the corporate world for the past 12 years. Recently, I decided to leave the corporate world to pursue my personal passion to work with dogs. In addition to my love for dogs, I am a genuine believer in fitness (both human and canine) and that a tired dog is a good dog. In light of this, I have decided to open my own company, Run Dog Run Chicago.
I have a long history with dogs dating back to my first memories. I have been around dogs my entire life. I worked in a vet clinic while I was in High School as well as a volunteer at the humane society. I moved to Chicago over 10 years ago and I have actively been involved in the dog community since I arrived. I have worked on staff at Camp Dogwood since its inception, and I used to deliver Chicagoland Tails when it was first founded. I have in the past and currently still volunteer at homeless shelters in the city when I have time. I am absolutely crazy about dogs.
I currently have 2 furry friends of my own. I have had a husky since he was a puppy, and he has been a joy since he came home with my wife and I. The other dog we have we saved from a no kill shelter. She has been one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences I have ever had. She came from an extremely abusive situation. The facility I got her from didn't give us any of the details, because I think they wanted to find her a home. She had been at the facility for over 7 months, and desperately needed to find a home. My wife and I had no idea what we were getting into and thought that if we showed her the love we showed our husky, that her problems would resolve themselves. Unfortunately, it didn't work that way, but we learned how to deal with her over time. We have had to completely rearrange our lives and re-evaluate our entire training program with her in order to for form a close bond with this dog. Cheyenne has been a member of our family for over 5 years and she is a completely transformed dog.
I run with my own dogs daily, and am very adept at understanding a dog’s exercise capabilities. I assess each dog in terms of his/her level of fitness and develop a program that puts safety first. I truly believe that great exercise during the day is the key to your dog’s health and happiness.
